How To combat Depression?

Depression is like a darkness of the soul. Rather than fighting with it, we have to bring light & the darkness will no more be there. One can not fight with the darkness. It is a fight in vain. A small light of candle can solve the problem.

How can we bring light that is the question now? For that we have to bring awareness in life. Awareness is like a candle light. Wherever we bring it, there is no darkness.

To bring awareness we have to train ourselves. It is a long training but the fruits are wonderful.
We have to start with the body first. We have to be aware of its movements, while taking bath. Close your eyes & watch your hands washing your body, water falling on your head. Make your bathing activity slow. Let it take a long time, but do every activity consciously. It will be a refreshing experience for your body & mind both.

The same awareness, we have to bring while we take our meals. Take full time to eat food with awareness. Watch every movement of your body, the taste of food, the aroma of food, the satisfaction it brings.

While we go for a morning walk, we can practice to be aware of our foot movements.
Slowly-slowly, we will be more & more alert while doing anything. Many negative things are caught by us due to our unconscious living.

After mastering awareness of body, we can start being watchful of our thoughts, which are more subtle. When we watch thoughts, without judgment of right or wrong, they start withering away. Thoughts are the main source of our depression. We shall start having, control over our thoughts.

The third step in awareness is to be aware of our emotions & moods, which are deeper than thoughts in us. We are governed by our emotions most of the time. We do not act out of our wisdom.

Finally when there is nothing on the screen of your mind, you come to know your true self. You achieve the true freedom for the first time. There is nothing more blessing experience than to find oneself. You are first time back to your home.

Simple it seems to be a solution to a big problem, but seeds are very small & trees are very big. By sowing seeds of awareness, we can live a life of happiness, blissfulness & joy with no depression found.
